The following is an email about an opportunity to display and potentially sell work in windows at the Justice Center in downtown Portland. The deadline is tight and it will be open until their are enough submissions. Details are below
There are three large windows to exhibit artwork. The artwork is safe and any loss or damages are covered by the Justice Center management.
The exhibit will run from March 9 to May 3rd.
Here is a link to a form that being used by the Oregon potters.
There is room for maybe 5-8 sculptors on a first come first serve system, depending on the size and scale of works submitted.
Here is a bit more background: Basically, the guilds will be sharing window space at the Justice Center sidewalk gallery. The work is safe, ( the police department is right there) and any loss or damages will be covered by the Justice Center management. There hasn’t been an issue in the 20 years or more that they have had art in the windows.
We install the work on March 9th and take it out on May 4th, keeping it up to promote the Gathering of the Guild and Ceramic Showcase. I want to get as many guilds represented as possible. Works can go on pedestals or be hung on the walls or shelves. They have pedestals, shelves, and wall hooks- unless the artist wants a specific display- they can bring it.
Here are the steps
1. Folks sign up on the form, https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdenisdfzE9H1_xSB8g7zy74cWRkJT8jftwAyfu2Cv6OXjB5A/viewform?fbzx=-7019700065583936752
2, You will be contacted to confirm your submission.
3, on March 9th at noon to 1 PM, people will start showing up with their work at SW Madison st between SW 2nd and 3rd. Downtown is very quiet at that hour and has little traffic. There is a smart park an easy two blocks away, or they can easily park on the street on SW 4th and walk over.
4. Bob will reach out to to those who are selected and get the details for signage in the window
5. The artists return on May 4th to pick up their work between 10 and 11 AM.
