On the verge of opening the Cully Sculpture Walk in June, Betsy Power is welcoming PNWS members into her world on Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. for discussion and an exploration of her work. Her studio is at NE Ainsworth and NE 46th Street.
Betsy’s vision and passion for the new Sculpture Walk is inspiring. Often artists feel limited by the opportunities they have access to. This is a great chance to hear about how one of our members took things into her own hands.

Betsy is a Portland Oregon-based ceramic artist with a focus on large-scale work. “In my own life journey, I have found a form of healing in the curves and contours of sculpture – a poetry of self in physical form. Through the medium of clay, I explore the intricacy of emotions that go hand-in-hand with being human and that often feel indescribable through words.”
Years ago, while visiting Santa Fe, Betsy came face-to-face with a bronze sculpture that changed her life.
“For whatever reason, this sculpture at that time in my life opened a desire and a pathway within me to put hands in clay, turn to art, and drastically change my life on every level. As we move through the difficult times we find ourselves in, I hold to a deep knowing that art can shift hearts and minds. It is not for me to question how and within whom. It is only my job to create.”
Members and prospective members are welcome to bring beverages and light snacks. You will be glad you made the effort!
