In 2000, sculptor Joseph Highfill, along with a small group of contemporary sculpture artists founded Pacific Northwest Sculptors. He recruited about 10 sculptors, including Marty Eichinger and Devin Lawrence Field. The group quickly expanded to about 20. After a few meetings, the group structured itself into a more formal organization, created bylaws and a plan for regular educational gatherings.
