For January we will celebrate the coming of a new year with a 3 p.m. walk (rain or shine!) along the Clackamas River, starting at Leslie Crist’s home in Gladstone, Oregon. Potluck to follow.
Says Leslie, “In the winter the river rises and falls, cleaning its rocks and sweeping roots, branches and other interesting bits to the shore. Please come be inspired by nature, breathe in the cold air together, and rejoice in our connection with the world and each other.”
The meeting will start with a brief walk down to the river, which flows between round and sometimes slippery rocks. Please wear sensible shoes. Bring walking sticks if you’d be more stable or comfortable navigating the rocks with those. Bring a bucket if you think some rocks will call to you. We will wander along the river as far as we like, though river level will dictate our options as well. High river levels mean a short walk!
After the walk, we’ll warm up at the house and enjoy each others’ company. It’s a chance to share our intentions and good wishes for this bright, shiny new year.
Please RSVP in advance to Leslie Crist at leslie@lesliecristart.com. Event address will be emailed when the event is closer.
If you are unable to come but want to have your wishes for the year called out to the group (and the river), please let Leslie or Bob Deasy know and they’ll make it happen.
Here is the Zoom link for those unable to attend in person. Note this starts at or around 3:30 or 4:00 PM
