I have been making things out of clay almost my entire life. I'm named for my Costa Rican Grandmother who took up throwing on the pottery wheel late in her life. I took every ceramics class available from High school thru collage. I obtained a teaching Degree from the University of Washington/Washington State University.
Post College, I taught ceramics to children in Seattle and California. I am a Hand Builder using slabs of Clay to form my work. I love imprinting textures and combining designs and colors on my pieces surfaces. Clay is also Therapy.
Over the years I have studied many forms of healing Arts: at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology Palo Alto (a certificate in Creative
Expression), Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy, Berkeley Psychic Institute (energy work and healing modalities), Reiki, Intuition with Carolyn Myss, Native American practice of Sweat Lodge, and sitting Meditation to name a few. These practices weave their way through my work and my life, extending that Healing presence to my art and ultimately to my clients, students and Patrons.
