Maria began to create sculptures revealing archetypal experiences of women when she first put her hands into clay. Since then, she has shown her work in Portland and SW Washington before moving to the Skagit Valley, where she now lives and creates in her studio overlooking Big Lake in Mount Vernon, Washington.
Maria has shown at the Perry and Carlson Gallery in Mt. Vernon, WA. “This new body of work springs from an internal conversation that has taken on new intensity during recent months when sheltering in place makes forays to the natural world feel even more precious. Although, between a pandemic and the fires raging all around us, we humans are experiencing a taste of what it’s like to be endangered, this work is a celebration of our Mother Nature and her willingness to regrow and nurture our spirits.“ |
