Summer Art Festivals/Raku Firings

The parade of seasonal art festivals are upon us and PNWS is again planning to set up booths for promotion and demonstrations at the Troutdale Art Festival  (June 7th and 8th), The Vancouver Art and Music Festival (July 31-Aug 3) and the seasons festival finale, Art in the Pearl (August 30-Sept1). My partner in Raku crime, Nathan LacQuaye and I will again be offering our maskmaking workshop and subsequent raku firing at each of these festivals to promote the artform, encourage community involvement, build comradery, promote and encourage partnerships and have some fun. Opportunities for involvement abound and we will be doing outreach for member participation as get closer to VAMF and AITP, but the Troutdale Festival follows on the heels of Gathering of the Guilds and maskmaking needs to proceed the festival event by a couple of weeks so we are looking at holding a maskmaking session in Vancouver at my studio on May 17th at 3.

Who can come? All PNWS members and their guests are invited. If you have attended before you are welcome to do it again. We are all about encouraging diversity in all its many faces so consider extending the invitation to any members of your circle that would enjoy the experience. No prior experience is necessary. We will partner with Nathan Orosco’s students from Mt. Hood Community College so youth will be represented. All maskmakers need to commit to showing up at the Troutdale Art Festival on Saturday, June 7th to glaze and witness the firing of the artworks. The venue we choose for the May 17th maskmaking event will depend on the numbers that respond. RSVP me at brussellford@gmail.com The cost of the experience is your commitment to attend and have fun. $20. suggested donation to cover materials.
