PNWSculptors has it’s own instagram account and 2 facebook pages. One FB page is linked to our IG account and is for public viewing only. The purpose of this FB page is for us to display our presence on social media, and post events that would be of interest to the public. Our 2nd FB page is for in-house members to communicate with eachother, ask questions, post items of interest to eachother. This page is not linked to our IG account. Our Instagram (IG) account (@pnwsculptors) has been handled for roughly the past 4 years by Shelly Durica-Laiche aka Indio Metal Arts. With a few savvy techniques like adding relevant hashtags and commenting on other peoples’ posts, Shelly built up our number of followers by the hundreds. Thank you, Shelly, for all your hard work building up our social media presence on Instagram!
Mary Grout handled IG postings for the past 3 months, and now Russ Ford has volunteered to be the main contact for PNWS posts to Instagram and Facebook. Thank you, Russ! Russ will handle our posts for the next 3 months or so, then we will be asking another member to step up and be our main contact for IG/FB. By members taking turns posting to IG, we will be able to expand our social media presence even more.
As a group, we can utilize Instagram and Facebook a lot more to our advantage. For ex., do you have a show or an event coming up? Send your info. (including photos) to Russ Ford (brussellford@gmail.com) and he can post your show/event on Instagram and FB. We currently have over 980 followers on IG and over 1,000 on FB – this means that you will have more coverage and exposure for your show/event. The potential for connecting with other sculptors and the public is there, but only if we use it, and get involved with maintaining it.
