Skeleton Crew

There are only about a dozen of us volunteering for PNWS, and for each of us it can be several hours each week to organize and animate the baseline features of PNWS: newsletter, website monthly meetings, social media posts, show production, email communication and more. It’s an incredible honor to lead the  people who make Pacific Northwest Sculptors happen. I’m committed to a humane collaboration with each Member contributing to PNWS.

If you are inclined to get involved there are a few things that come to mind immediately: assisting with PNWS shows, taking notes at the Board meetings, and posting to our Social Media. Bob Deasy and Leslie Crist are leaders for the Home and Garden and the Gathering of the Guilds shows respectively. Helping them or anyone else who might be involved in shows would be a great step for PNWsculpture going out into the world with our art.

Our Board Secretary, Jessica Stroia could use a second scribe for the Board meetings. It helps to have a second set of ears tracking who says what on a combined Zoom and live meeting. Another contact: Mary Grout, our Social Media coordinator. She and I and a few others, like VP Russ Ford regularly post sculpture images and information on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. Truth is we’re scratching the surface of PNWS potential with Social Media. Contributing any level of expertise with SM would help.

We’d also like help scheduling or suggesting studio tours, managing our display materials in storage, editing our website, etc. Just let me know. A little help goes a long way. For those of us already involved, it’s a labor of love, of curiosity and comradery.

Founding PNWS Member, Patrick Gracewood, once said to me, “It’s a miracle that PNWS still exists”. What I see is the miracle of synergy between people who care, bringing their genuine self to our group project. Showing up is the key. Come to a studio tour or an online conversation, connect with other Members and let us know what you’re interested in. We’d like your time in the group to be satisfying.
