President’s Message – August 2026

Art at the Cave – November 2026

While August is FULL of events (hoping to see you there!), don’t lose track of the members-only show that’s coming right up in November at Art at the Cave.

The theme? Coalescence.

What is Coalescence? Think of it as fusion, integration or unification – a merging of things, ideas, colors, chemistry or anything else, coming together in a magical way.

The theme was chosen to encourage members to collaborate with each other or to ask different materials to play well together. It seems fitting metaphorically as well, with so much emphasis on our differences in the world at large.

Some members have been working on their pieces for awhile now. Linda Kliewer, who is hosting our August potluck, has a ceramic/photography collaboration I’m eager to see, for instance.

Another member, Dave Wagner, has been working on a series of ceramic forms relating to Japanese calligraphy and he’s looking for a welder to collaborate with. Feel free to reach out to him directly if you have welding skills. It’s an intriguing project.

If you are also looking for someone to partner with, let me know. Email a few details and I’ll help match-make. Who knows? It may be the start of a beautiful relationship, so I encourage you to take the leap. president@pnwsculptors.org

Key dates:

Entries Due: TBD; plan on October 1

Sculpture Dropoff: Sunday, Nov. 1, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Sculpture Pickup: Saturday, Nov.r 28, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

As usual, if you can’t make a dropoff or pickup date, there is usually another member able to help out. The 2nd Wednesday Sculpture Conversations via Zoom and the monthly potlucks are great places to ask for help, or to find partners for artwork collaboration.

The show will run the month of November, with an artist talk Saturday, November 21. Mark your calendars! I’m hoping we have a great turnout of work, and I know our artist talks are always inspiring and thought-provoking.

I’m looking forward to seeing your work. Let me know if you need help finding colleagues to collaborate with.

May your art flow,

Leslie Crist
