Bulls Eye Glass tour and sculpting at Manifestation

You’re invited to tour Bulls Eye Glass with PNWS July 18th at 3pm (**RSVP below) This tour is conjoined with an opportunity to sculpt in clay and is the PNWS Member opportunity for July.

Bulls Eye (3722 SE 21st. Portland, OR) founded 50 years ago, is the regional leader in glass for artists. We’ll see how it’s made, their extensive library of glass, classroom with available glass kilns, and the experimental projects gallery. Be warned: “No open toe shoes” molten glass is beautiful and dangerous.

We’ll also get time to sculpt, eat and hang out together, later (5-ish) after the Bulls Eye tour, Russ Ford will lead clay activity at the Manifestation cooperative (2020 SE Bush) just a few steps from Bulls Eye Glass. The clay objects produced are to be raku fired at the Vancouver Art and Music Festival (August 2 – 4). Several ways to engage with sculpture and community.

It’s also been rumored that PNWS Member Jonas Hartley will be available show off his fantasy animal art at Splendorporium   Also within a few steps from Bullseye glass and the Manifestation building, the three businesses clustered together on SE 21st in Portland, OR.

More information about these events will be sent out to PNWS Members soon. Mark your calendars and **contact Andy Kennedy <playpurpose@yahoo.com> to reserve a spot on the Bulls Eye Glass tour. Or you could simply participate in the hands on clay crafting and potluck after the Bulls Eye tour. Russ will be glad to see you.

Russ Ford has promoted making clay masks of animals. “Spirit animals” or animal familiars, a worthy theme in this time of environmental change. You are certainly welcome to explore other themes, but animal masks are a good place to start if you’d like a prompt.
