Thank you Chas Martin for your assistance on the installation!

Alan is an Oregon born artist, who works primarily with resourced materials from discarded farm, logging equipment and old automobiles.
His art falls into different categories:
* Assemblage
* Abstract, and
* Farm Punk (his own definition)
Alan draws his ideas from the world that has surrounded him all of his life, mainly time that has been spent in Eastern Oregon, from the Deschutes River to the Columbia. In addition, his ideas also stem from his experience as a logger, cherry picker, house painter, carpenter, carnival worker and Ornamental Ironworker/Blacksmith.
Alan’s particular approach usually comes from an idea that has bounced around in his head for awhile and then sketched out several times. He then begins fitting and juxtaposing parts and pieces together from his large array of found objects. Quite often, this allows the piece to “speak” to him as it takes on a life of its own.
Alan’s art education has included various classes from accredited schools. However, his main education comes from studying various artists that he admires.
Stop by at the Oregon Art Center, 2185 SW Park Pl, Portland, OR 97205, to view this amazing piece in person.
